Excertos de entrevista a uma lenda

HELLRAISER Keith Richards says he has finally given up drugs — because they don’t give him Satisfaction any more.

The Rolling Stones guitarist complained dealers and chemists have reduced the power of his favourite narcotics.

And he doesn’t like modern drugs like ecstasy because they “mess with the brain”.

Former heroin addict Keith, 62, moaned: “I really think the quality’s gone down.

“All they do is try and take the high out of everything.

“I don’t like the way they’re working on the brain area instead of just through the blood system.

“That’s why I don’t take any of them any more.

And you’re talking to a person who knows his drugs.”

But Keith, currently on world tour with the band, admitted he did ask for extra morphine after he damaged his head when falling off a branch in Fiji in April.

He said: “I don’t take drugs unless I have to under great duress with my brain open. I’ve had a couple of weeks on morphine. I did try to squeeze a little bit extra out of the night nurse. She was very accommodating.”

And he revealed the real story behind the bizarre fall. Keith said he sat on the branch because bandmate Ronnie Wood had “nicked me hammock”.

He said: “My feet were only 2ft off the ground — then whoops-a-daisy.”
